Apparently the GCCC is proposing doing some upgrades to the Currumbin Beach shared path and carparks. Nicole Sprintall, Stakeholder Engagement Specialist Transport and Traffic Branch, advised #Savecurrumbin of this on 4 December.
These upgrades are due to take place after ANZAC Day 2020 and will take a few months to complete.
Nicole inquired if we would be interested in receiving further information in the coming months in advance of the upgrades.
This was our reply:
Yes, thank you. We look forward to all the information you can provide including maps drawings schematics. Whilst these public space works are not strictly developments we are concerned to monitor, they impact on public amenity the core driver of our activism. Moreover those public amenity projects are compromised with every private DA that seeks to either push the envelope of height and density or seek relaxation in private car parking that spills over to their developments residents taking public car parks and amenity. There is precious little public car parks along Pacific Parade and access denied is a dreadful usurpation of ordinary families access rights to Currumbin beach and its amenities. Overdevelopment along Pacific Parade will thwart your aspirations and ours. We all need to be conscientious of upholding Australians basic human rights to beach side amenity.
We shall post on this website as soon as we get more information from Nicole.
