How can I help?

Round 1 Submissions are in and Council planners have already recommended adoption of most of what we have asked for in Round 2.

We have been largely successful in lobbying for the adoption of our submissions. Thanks to all of the Gold Coast City Council  both elected and executive including the local member Gail O’Neil and the Chair of Economy Planning & Environment Cr Cameron Caldwell supporting our submissions, they have made it into the list of laws to be amended as part of the Round 2 process.

See our Article on the Round 2 Town Hall on 21 January 2020 and our Article on Save Currumbin’s response to Round 2 Our City Our Plan amendments to City Plan 2016

Round 2 Consultations commenced 6 January  and will conclude 12 February 2020.

If you are happy with our response to Round 2, you need do nothing. If you want to make your own submissions you may do so directly to this link. We also welcome your feedback.

We still have some points from our submissions that need legislative reform and we shall continue to lobby for that. See our recent What’s New articles  for details.

You are most welcome to engage in that process. In fact we need your help.

Here are some reasons why Council should adopt all our submissions. https://savecurrumbin.com/why-council-must-adopt-save-currumbins-submissions/

One of the most important reasons to #savecurrumbin everywhere on social media is to save the wildlife.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary will suffer if the environment of Currumbin suffers. The birds that visit the Sanctuary live and feed in the Currumbin Hill vegetation and rocky outcrops. Entomb that habitat in concrete apartments that are built right into the vegetated cliffs and what will happen to the birds and other wildlife? #savecurrumbin if you care.

  1. It’s really sad we have to get together to save what is truly a magnificent part of the world in beauty let alone Australia.

Currumbin has world class beaches, natural rainforests untouched, first class hospital, airport and schools all in close driving distance.

The question I have to ask by over populating the region with small housing lots and commercial approvals within the region. Has anyone really undertaken a proper traffic easement plan study let alone a species impact statement. We have one road in from the beach to the forest. It’s called Currumbin Creek Road.

Some parts of the road are so dangerous at present, let alone more cars on it.
Plus we have bike riders wanting to use the road more and more and with impatient drivers overtaking on blind corners, it’s only a matter of time before there are more fatalities.

I don’t have any objection to growth, however as long as it is correctly master planned and assessed with all approvals in place for the right reasons for the future.

    Thank you
