Beautiful Currumban should remain as it is, peaceful , clean and home for the wild animals and birds whose habitat is a source of income for Currumban.
Very Interested in Save Currumbin’s interest in recent articles in Bulletin voicing some Locals ie Paul Donovan ,
also an article by Tony Cochrane, relating to allowing all day food and beverage establishments on beachfront land on our foreshores. Given that Currumbin is frequented by a large percentage by families and young children, I was wondering if this was considered a very bad idea. It may work in Surfers Paradise or Main Beach! but given the popularity of Burleigh Hill precinct and the alcohol consumption and accompanying mess, drunken arguments. I question why we would even think of putting licensed outlets on our pristine beaches. Not a very good look for the youth of our community. Given that most of these beaches have
surf Clubs Licenced ” in competition”. Some ideas are fine ie. umbrella hire seating and perhaps the local shops could arrange a cool water trolley! To cash in on our pristine beaches! I feel is a step too far, with food and alcohol . Do we not have enough lovely little venues opposite our beaches for that? How are they going to
compete? they pay Rates and other expenses could not compete! are these Tourism Brains going to run others
out of business? Come on Currumbin and other family beaches , do we want to hand over our beaches to the
cashed up tourists, who hire chairs and umbrellas, departing our pristine leaving a mess? or use our precious
piece of Australia, the way we Aussies have always visited our beach? Save Currumbin
