Save Currumbin Campaign

Currumbin Beach looking West

Quick steps to making a submission

We have been trying hard this past month to inform the community what the main issues are with the proposed and existing City Plan in so far as it relates to Currumbin.

We have had a marvelous response and lots of feedback.

The overwhelming majority of people and groups favour further changes to the City Plan to preserve Currumbin as a green, habitat rich, village and family friendly area and to oppose overdevelopment which is the antithesis of those things that make Currumbin unique.

For example on Facebook alone since 9 October 2019, we reached 66.0K people and had 2.9K engagements. In November #savecurrumbin had 1Million hits. A great many of them have registered on our website www.savecurrumbin.com and are soon to download from that site our template submissions and send that to council to have their say.

Let’s hope the Council listens to the public, community, environmental and first nation’s groups and changes the laws to forever preserve Currumbin as the jewel in the Gold Coast’s crown.

  1. I object to distasteful over development . There are parts of the Gold Coast that have been left as wildlife corridors for a reason. With these gone or considerably reduced it will not only effect the natural flora and fauna populations but it will destroy the natural charm that the southern Gold Coast is well known for. With this gone it will become like any other over populated vile city and will become a coastal city not to visit and enjoy. It’s becoming tiresome to have to fight for simple things that majority of decent people enjoy while the minority of greedy selfish pigs have their hooves in the trough helping themselves to what ever they think will bring them their fortune. Enough is enough. We don’t want our Southern Gold Coast a concrete jungle like Surfers Paradise.

  2. I was born here on the Gold Coast, this month 39yrs ago.
It saddens me hugely. And makes me cross too!!! I have seen so many natives trees and vegetation cut down in Burleigh heads recently. So many animal’s lost their homes. Its now bare and hotter too!! No privacy aswell!!
I’m also seeing alot more of our animals homes around the coast being removed!!! One of the things locals love about this home/place!! And people who come here to visit from all different parts of the globe. This needs to stop!!!! I want my children and grandchilden to be safe. Healthy. And happy when we are gone and can’t help. Be here. Or protect them!!! Well to do this we need our beautiful mother earth!!! Her trees!! Her water!! Her animals!! We are all one!! We all need to help take care of each other or we will all die!!!! I am embarrassed about our home/gokd coast at the moment!! I thought we were smart. And gave a shit!! Please prove us right!!!
