Points to use in lobbying for support

Read consider and comment on the new issues that pop up about DA’s that ‘push the envelope’ too far (such as that proposed for 776 Pacific Prade) or laws that need to be amended or enforced. Attend meetings and write emails and sign petitions by us and like-minded Groups like Friends of Currumbin, Tugun Progress Association and Gecko. Follow us on social media. One of the most important reasons to #savecurrumbin everywhere on social media is to save the wildlife.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary will suffer if the environment of Currumbin suffers. The birds that visit the Sanctuary live and feed in the Currumbin Hill vegetation and rocky outcrops. Entomb that habitat in concrete apartments that are built right into the vegetated cliffs and what will happen to the birds and other wildlife? #savecurrumbin if you care.

  1. It’s really sad we have to get together to save what is truly a magnificent part of the world in beauty let alone Australia.

Currumbin has world class beaches, natural rainforests untouched, first class hospital, airport and schools all in close driving distance.

The question I have to ask by over populating the region with small housing lots and commercial approvals within the region. Has anyone really undertaken a proper traffic easement plan study let alone a species impact statement. We have one road in from the beach to the forest. It’s called Currumbin Creek Road.

Some parts of the road are so dangerous at present, let alone more cars on it.
Plus we have bike riders wanting to use the road more and more and with impatient drivers overtaking on blind corners, it’s only a matter of time before there are more fatalities.

I don’t have any objection to growth, however as long as it is correctly master planned and assessed with all approvals in place for the right reasons for the future.

    Thank you

  2. Your picture features our iconic statue that has been recently stolen!! This is perhaps emblematic of what is happening to Currumbin.

  3. Mermaid and Burliegh are now ruined by light rail. Palm beach is losing it’s soul with overdevelopment. The Gold Coast has just 2 beaches that still have a bit of soul and pleasentness – Currumbin and Tugun. Once it’s gone, it’s gone forever!
Protect the remaining jewels in the Gold Coast crown.

  4. The part of Currumbin that is bounded by the Creek, a lapping Pacific Ocean and the adjoining undulating terrain immediately behind is a feast for the eyes which its residents have long known and appreciated.

Naturally it’s a magnet to developers wanting to cash in on its beauty and a Council eager to top up its coffers briefly (not to mention the kudos and/or kickbacks it offers some).

Currumbin offers locals and visitors alike an element of intimacy. Come there often enough and you feel like family. A connection that can so easily be lost at the hands of a mere few poised to gain from a development that can leave the amenity scarred is not destroyed for future generations

I am not a local, but for over 30yrs I have been swimming at Currumbin Beach most mornings. I am not anti- or pro-development but believe certain stretches of coastline deserve preserving and this beachfront/coastal strip qualifies – it has soul!

  5. Placing such a large development directly in front of Currumbin beach front and Currumbin hill, shows a lack of consideration for neighbouring owners and significantly diminishes the value and enjoyment of our homes.”
Its feel that the proposed development does not adequately take into account the impact on surrounding properties, particularly in terms of view, privacy, and overall amenity.”
